The Watcher: Return to Westfield with Detective Barron Chambliss
This is an update to an episode released in September of 2021. We’re talking about the Watcher. The case of a family in Westfield, NJ who, while in the process of moving into a new home… received threatening letters signed ‘The Watcher’. The story became international news as the contents of the letters were made public, and the Broaddus family of Westfield, lived in fear, particularly for their 3 young children who were named in some of the letters. Maria and Derek Broaddus struggled with the agonizing decision to officially move into their dream home…or sell it and move on.
So many theories, was the watcher some supernatural force that was watching and writing? Was the watcher a local stalker? Did the Broaddus family…write the letters themselves? Was this a neighbor, annoyed and fixated on the home because of their renovations?
Dawn sat down with Westfield detective Barron Chambliss, who investigated the case. She wanted to get his opinion on this mystery. Who does he think was responsible…who…is the watcher? He had a lot to say.
Please note: The interview with Detective Chambliss is based on his professional opinion as a law enforcement officer and doesn’t necessarily reflect the opinion of Method and Madness or its host.
